Third Friday
Join DDI and the Carolina Theatre at CCB Plaza on May 16 from 6-9 p.m. for a special edition of Third Friday, bringing music, movement, and community spirit to the heart of the city.
The event will feature a live DJ and Willie Hinton, one of the dancers at this year’s Dancing with the Carolina Stars! Willie will guide visitors through fun, beginner-friendly dance lessons in preparation for the Carolina Theatre’s beloved annual fundraiser. It’s a perfect opportunity for Durham locals to learn some new moves, enjoy downtown, check out some galleries and support a cherished cultural institution.

Submit a Third Friday Event
The Third Friday Durham Event Calendar is used to promote arts-related events and activities taking place in Durham County on the Third Friday of each month.Â
Event organizers are also encouraged to use the hashtag #thirdfridaydurham on social media, and to invite @thirdfridaydurham to collaborate on Instagram.
Requirements for Submission
All events must:
- occur within Durham County
- be open to the general public
- take place on the third Friday of the month
- take place between the hours of 6:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m., or overlap this window
Downtown Durham, Inc. maintains full editorial control over all submitted events, including the right to exclude events as necessary. The Third Friday Durham Event Calendar is for informational purposes only and does not imply endorsement by DDI. Please allow up to 2-3 business days for your event to appear on the calendar.
Public events may require permitting, which is not handled by DDI. Please visit the City of Durham special events page to ensure proper permits have been secured.
