‘The Mix at Durham Station’ Greets Travelers with Music and Food
Durham, N.C. – GoDurham and Downtown Durham, Inc. are partnering to bring music and food to travelers and members of the community at the Durham Station Transportation Center from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Third Fridays.
“The Mix at Durham Station” debuts this Friday with sounds from DJ PiddiPat and food from So Good Pupusas.
“We thought this would be a great way to greet our riders and invite the community into Durham Station,” said Doug Middleton, GoDurham’s General Manager. “Folks can stop to listen and enjoy a quick bite as they wait for a bus or use it as a launching pad to the other Third Friday activities. It’s a great way to start the weekend.”
In addition to being a Third Friday event (Durham’s monthly art walk, where galleries, restaurants and businesses celebrate local artists) the Mix at Durham Station is part of Downtown Durham, Inc.’s placemaking initiative, which brings free, creative programming to spaces throughout downtown.
Nicole J. Thompson, President and CEO of Downtown Durham, Inc. explained why placemaking is important. “Great placemaking makes the experience of being downtown memorable and fun. It increases foot traffic, helps us stay true to Durham’s cool and creative roots, and ensures that downtown is a welcoming place for everyone.”
The Mix at Durham Station will continue on Third Fridays through September. The Durham Station is located at 515 W. Pettigrew St. in downtown Durham.
