The Streetery

Welcome to The Downtown Durham Streetery!

We are opening multiple streets in the center of downtown to pedestrian traffic with festive lights, music and performers sprinkled throughout.

Join us on Friday and Saturday evenings from 5-9:30 p.m. from September 18 – December 19 to shop, carry out, dine in or dine out.

It is our way of welcoming folks to a safer, socially distanced, outdoor downtown experience.

~ Special Shop Small Saturday Streetery • November 28 ~

Shopping local is good for our small businesses and good for the community!

So we’re taking a Streetery break on Friday, Nov. 27, (the day after Thanksgiving) in order to extend The Streetery hours during Shop Small Saturday. On Nov. 28, we’ll host The Streetery from 3 – 9:30 p.m., so you can get all your holiday shopping done and spend more time enjoying the pedestrian friendly roads, delicious food, festive lights, music and performers. We’ll also have special Shop Small Saturday maps that list all the downtown retailers, so you can visit your old favorites and find some new favorites, too.

The Merchants

Come down, shop, carry out, dine in or dine out. Enjoy!

The Buskers

Check our social media (@downtowndurham) for an up-to-date listing of musicians and street performers.

We are looking for solo performers with moderate amplification. If you are interested in being a Streetery busker, please contact Sonic Pie Productions.

Getting Back on the Bull

We’re excited to have you back downtown. Please observe all state and local social distancing guidelines, and honor requests from our merchants. Their highest priority is keeping you and their staff safe.

You can help:

  • Maintain at least a 6 ft. distance between yourself and others not in your party
  • Wear a mask indoors, and outdoors when social distancing isn’t possible
  • Limit group size to no more than 25 people indoors, 50 outdoors

Many downtown businesses have completed the Back on the Bull safety checklist. Visit to find out more about what you can do to keep Durham safe, and see which businesses are taking part.

Special Thanks
