You can’t have a vibrant downtown without an ever-growing list of events, businesses and activities happening all around you, which is exactly what you get in downtown Durham. To ensure our social media accounts reflect our bustling downtown and diverse community, we created the Social Media Ambassador Program. With the help of our Social Media Ambassadors, our visitors and residents are able to see more content than ever, while our businesses and events are highlighted to our growing social media audience.
Our team of local Social Media Ambassadors (who love downtown almost as much as we do!) attend events, restaurant openings, shows, Bulls games and more across downtown Durham. Our SMA’s create Instagram posts about the event or business they attended and invite us as collaborators, tagging any businesses, event venues or organizations involved. For each accepted post, SMA’s are paid with a SpendaBull, downtown Durham’s e-gift card that’s good at more than 60 merchants. This means that every dollar put into the program goes right back to our downtown businesses!
Andi, @_AndiWallace_
“What makes me love downtown Durham are all of the amazing local businesses that we have. From cool plant stores, quirky shops and amazing food. You can find it all!”
Andi is an NC native but new-ish to Durham (10 or so years) and loves exploring the food scene. She’s addicted to chai, a lover of all types of Asian food and she’ll stop in her tracks for curry of any kind!
Paige & Tommy, @BullCityStir
“We are truly never, ever bored in downtown Durham. We love eating, drinking and walking our way through our beautiful city, and being social media ambassadors for Downtown Durham, Inc. has given us even more reasons to get of the house. “
Paige and Tommy live in the Warehouse District with dog Theo and (appropriately named) cats Whiskey and Barley. Their favorite hobby is convincing friends to move to Durham, but when they aren’t doing that, you’ll find them playing a board game at The Daily Beer Bar; drinking a beer at literally any of the breweries downtown; running on the American Tobacco Trail (OK, that’s just Tommy); or in the outfield at a Durham Bulls game. Their biggest weaknesses: Tommy a boilermaker drink special or Paige a late-night basket of French fries.

“I am an avid tea drinker and global traveler with a passion for elevated local experiences. As a content creator, I believe the best journeys start right in your backyard. That’s why I champion Downtown Durham, NC—it’s the perfect blend of electric energy, history, and vibrant, walkable culture.
I proudly serve as a Downtown Durham Ambassador because this program actively fosters the engaging, connected, and safe atmosphere I seek out in my experiences and recommend to my audience. My goal is to showcase downtown Durham’s exceptional hidden gems, from the perfect espresso bar to the next great culinary ritual.
Let’s explore the Bull City together!”
Hannah, @LifeWithHanny
“I love sharing my favorite parts of Durham online already and this gave me the opportunity to meet other local influencers and reach a larger audience in the Durham community.”
Hannah is originally from Sandusky, OH but moved to Durham, NC in 2013. She loves spending time with her dog and checking out local places in the area. You’ll likely find her with an iced coffee in hand.
Kianna, @WanderEat_Repeat
“Born and raised in Bull City, I’ve always had a deep love for Durham, especially downtown. As a proud Durham foodie, I’m always on the hunt for the next great bite. Being part of the Downtown Durham Ambassador Program lets me share that love connecting with my community, spotlighting small businesses, and helping others experience the magic that makes downtown so special. There’s truly no place like it!”
