Cited as “one of the most successful shows in North Carolina theater history,” this wonderful holiday classic is brought to life with great songs and tremendous heart. Celebrating over 50 years, this Broadway quality production turns the tale of Scrooge into a joyous musical comedy, packed full of spirit, topical humor and show-stopping tunes, while still preserving the poignant heart of the original. Theatre In The Park is delighted to announce that its founding Artistic Director, Ira David Wood III, will return to the stage this holiday season in his beloved production of A Christmas Carol. After a celebrated 50-year run as Ebenezer Scrooge, Wood will step into a new role this year: the whimsical Lamplighter.

With over one million people having experienced the magic of A Christmas Carol throughout the years, the show regularly sells out. A few of its honors include being named one of the Top 20 Events In The Southeast, the Metro Ovation Award, the Triangle Arts & Entertainment Reader’s Choice Award, Proclamations from the Mayor of Raleigh and the Governor of North Carolina, Proclamations from Compiegne, France and Kingston-Upon-Hull, England, and the distinct privilege of being the first theatrical production staged at DPAC.
