Durham, N.C. – Downtown Durham, Inc. will host ‘Missing Middle Housing,’ the third in its three-part speaker series, on Wednesday, October 17 from 4-6 p.m. at the Carolina Theatre, 309 W. Morgan St.

“Missing Middle” was coined by Daniel Parolek of Opticos Design, Inc. to define a range of multi-unit or clustered housing types compatible in scale with single-family homes that help meet the growing demand for walkable urban living. In this final 2018 DDI Speaker Series event, Karen Parolek, Opticos Principal and CFO, shares how this ‘affordable by design’ option works in other communities and could work in Durham.

The discussion will take place from 4-5 p.m. and is free and open to the public. Following the presentation, participants are invited to attend a networking reception from 5-6 p.m. Tickets to the reception are $35 and are available at downtowndurham.com or at the event.
