Durham, N.C. – Downtown Durham, Inc. will host its 2019 Annual Meeting featuring Peter Kageyama, author of “For theLove of Cities” on Wednesday, November 20, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Durham Convention Center.

DDI’s Annual Meeting is an update on the organization’s progress and accomplishments over the previous year. It brings together elected officials, downtown businesses and DDI supporters to network, hear new ideas from national experts and celebrate the people who keep downtown Durham vibrant and growing.

“Our theme this year is ‘For the Love of Downtown Durham,’” said Nicole Thompson, DDI President and CEO. “This past year downtown Durham faced one of the biggest challenges it has ever dealt with; yet with the support of the downtown community and beyond, it emerged even stronger. We will talk about the growth we saw last year both in downtown and for DDI.”

The keynote address will explore the mutual love affair between people and their place. From Kageyama’s book: “As communities begin thinking of themselves as engaged in a relationship with their residents, and residents begin to consider their emotional connections with their places, we open up new possibilities in community, social and economic development.”
