Downtown Durham, Inc. Launches Shop 2nd Saturday Downtown Durham

 

Durham, N.C. – On June 9, downtown Durham retailers will offer item giveaways and other special programming from 11 a.m. through 3 p.m. for the first Shop 2ndSaturday Downtown Durham. This monthly shop local pilot program, which is coordinated by Downtown Durham, Inc., will run through the end of the calendar year.

“This concept is very grassroots and emerged out of numerous input sessions with downtown Durham retailers,” said DDI President/CEO Nicole J. Thompson. “Second Saturday is timed to extend the wonderful energy of the Farmers’ Market and encourage residents and visitors to stay downtown and explore all that our local brick and mortar shops have to offer.”

Twenty-four businesses will participate in the inaugural 2ndSaturday: Public Hardware, Hamilton Hill, Beer Durham, Song of Sixpence, Dolly’s Vintage, The Mothership, Bulldega, Indio, Morgan Imports, Runaway, Letters Bookshop, Ngozi Design Collective, Bull City Olive Oil, The Artisan Market, Through This Lens, Bungalow, Vert & Vogue, Other End of the Leash, Zen Succulent, Chet Miller, Tiny, Tre Bella, Details, and Fifi’s. Shoppers can identify participating retailers by the brightly colored banners hanging outside their storefronts.
