Description:
Do you love movies? Music? Video games? This class, designed for writers of any skill level who are interested in exploring the intersection of personal experience and pop culture, will teach you to write eloquent and entertaining cultural criticism that brings you into the narrative along with opinions and analysis. Students will write and workshop at least two pieces, and through this process, they will develop skills in crafting strong narratives, communicating the non-literary, and conducting and incorporating research. Through prompts, exercises, and analysis of published work by writers like Hanif Abdurraqib, Roxane Gay, and Grace Perry, students will learn how to craft compelling personal work that engages with pop culture in meaningful ways.
Instructor: Allison Darcy
Dates: Begins Wednesday, May 17, 2023 and runs every Wednesday for six weeks
Time: 6p to 8p
