Use Your Words
February 9 @ 2:00 pm - 4:30 pm
with Melissa Lido
“Use Your Words” is a continuing education workshop designed for instructors of yoga.
In this course, we will look at ways that we, as teachers of yoga, can refine our verbal cues for instructing asana. So often it can seem like we hear esoteric sounding things when we take a yoga class…what does it mean exactly to “scissor the hips”? Perhaps there are more effective ways that we can communicate as yoga teachers, especially for alignment. We will take a specific look at cues for the warrior poses, triangle and side angle poses, revolved angle poses, and half moon pose. (Please come with your questions for cues on any other specific poses!) We will focus on how to be precise with the words we choose when instructing and how we communicate as teachers. We will build confidence so that we feel prepared to move off the mat at the front of the room and hold the space for students to move in their practice.
This course provides 2.5 “contact hours” of continuing education credits with Yoga Alliance with a Y.A.C.E.P.
