This is one of those rare bands that brings absolutely everyone together, no matter their age or musical taste. It is just about impossible not to fall in love with this band from the first note.Peter Lamb is one of the top saxophonists in North Carolina, and one of our favorites here at Durham Mardi Gras thanks to his New Orleans tinged, super-hot jazz and R & B, among other styles. The charismatic and frenetic performer is backed up by one of the smokingest bands around. From the careful listener and music geek to the dancer who just wants to get down and have a great time, there is nobody who won’t immediately go for this band. Their repertoire runs the gamut from traditional New Orleans, early jazz and R&B classics to the theme from Spiderman. Whatever they play, it is always infused with their own immediately recognizable style. Peter’s saxophone blends seamlessly with superb trumpeter Paul Rogers. Piano player Mark Wells romps and frolics on the keys and wows with his amazing vocal range as his incredibly sweet tenor soars high above the mix. Drummer Stephen Coffman and bassist Peter Kimosh hold down a solid rhythm section. This is an experienced and talented band who’ve been together long enough to gel like only the best bands do, but they also bring a wealth of styles and influences to the mix. Here’s a list of just some of the folks band members have played with: Nnenna Freelon, Maceo Parker, Jason Marsalis, The North Carolina Symphony, Ben Folds Five, Mike Cross, Stephen Riley, The Beast, Clay Aiken, Josh Grobin, Shana Tucker, Orquesta GarDel, The Countdown Quartet, Chris Stamey, The Mint Julep Jazz Band, The Rosebuds, Carolina Ballet, Boneslinger, The Atomic Rhythm All-Stars, North Carolina Jazz Repertory Orchestra.
