Durham Warli Mural Project: Workshop 2
May 1 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm
Downtown Durham, Inc. is launching the third season of the Public Space Project with a three-week series of online events held at 1 p.m.
PSP Online will provide a virtual, lunch-time ‘taste’ of Public Space Projects to come.
Learn the Warli drawing technique and contribute your ideas to a downtown Durham mural!
The goal of our mural project is twofold – one, to introduce and educate the Durham community to a tribal art form that is minimalistic in nature, but quite expressive in its scope; and the other is to push the boundaries of this ancient art style to depict our contemporary urban locales and lifestyles.
Workshop 1 (April 24)
Try your hand at learning the Warli basics.
Workshop 2 (May 1)
Recreate Durham landscapes and lifestyles into Warli and submit your drawings to be integrated into the final mural design.
Who are the Warlis?
The Warlis are an aboriginal tribe living at the foothills of the Sahyadris in Maharashtra, Western India.
