“Layers,” in the Durham Arts Council’s Allenton Gallery, is a collection of monoprints by Ely Urbanski. Ely uses clothes as matrices of her prints. Clothes can become carriers of stories, identity, masks and judgements. Ultimately, they are material and non-material layers that cover humans. This project is an exploration of these layers. The opening reception for “Layers” will be held on May 17, 6pm, in conjunction with Third Friday Durham.
