A Durham, North Carolina native – born with the blessing of vocal talent – Jay Renee has been singing since the age of 5. Throughout her formative years, she participated in various Honors Chorus, All-State Choirs and other distinguished ensembles from elementary through high school. Jay Renee attended North Carolina Central University and graduated with a degree in Music Education, with a concentration in voice. While attending NCCU she participated in the University Choir, the Jazz Ensemble, and the Operatorio. Upon graduation, she quickly became a “go-to” choice wherever a strong, passionate female voice is needed. She has sung with numerous ensembles – including the perennial audience favorite – Stanley Baird Group. She has performed at numerous venues and festivals, such as the annual Bimbé Festival and the African American Cultural Festival. Jay Renee’s truest calling, though, is when she is fronting her own R&B/Soul band. It is here that one can experience to the fullest all the emotional power of this unique talent.
