An event every day that begins at 5:00 pm, repeating until October 21, 2021
Join us to celebrate HBCUs during North Carolina’s Countdown to College Application Week! Presented by Virtue Events, we are partnering with Durham Success Summit and APlus Test Prep to bring HBCU Week to Suite Four. We have three unique events planned for the week, with something for everyone! Events feature a powerful talk with an HBCU historian, college prep essentials for youth (with free pizza!), and a special edition of our Smolder & Spirits Cigar Night. You don’t want to miss it!
NC Countdown to College is a great opportunity for students that are ready to apply for college to get their applications in, as most universities around the state waive application fees during the third week of October (including NCCU and NC A&T!). To support that, Durham Success Summit has offered to review college essays and resumes for anyone who drops them off during the week. Take advantage of this special opportunity by attending College Prep Essentials on October 19th!
All events are free and open to the public! Details for each event are on our website: suite-four.com/HBCU
Tuesday, Oct. 19: College Prep Essentials Sponsored by Marcos Pizza
APlus Test Prep and Durham Success Summit have partnered to bring college application essentials to the youth of Durham. High school students are invited to attend to get tips for taking their SAT/ACT tests and to learn best practices for writing their college essay. Sponsored by Marcos Pizza – come early to grab a slice of pizza, a drink, and to connect with other Durham youth. High school students are also invited to bring their college essay or resume in to have Durham Success Summit review them for free!
5-7pm, in The Warehouse
Doors open at 4:30pm for pizza and networking
Wednesday, Oct. 20: Thoughts on HBCUs: The History & Power that Lies Within
We are excited to have Historian Dr. Toya Corbett join us to speak about HBCUs – their history and the power that lies within. Dr. Corbett is an advocate of equity, diversity and access in higher education. As a trained historian, scholar and student affairs professional, she has spoken at numerous conferences, workshops and seminars, and we are humbled to have her at Suite Four! This event is open to everyone – HBCU grad or not – and we hope you’ll join us for a memorable evening learning about the power of HBCUs.
6-8pm, in The Warehouse
Thursday, Oct. 21: Smolder & Spirits: Rep Your Crew, HBCU Edition
We have a special Smolder & Spirits Cigar Night planned for October 21st! Join us on The Patio at Suite Four to rep your HBCU gear and support your favorite school. As always, we’ll have drinks from Bartending Unlimited, cigars for purchase from Sticks & Vines, and our usual smoldering vibe, with a twist! This week, a portion of all funds given to support the weekly event will be donated to the HBCU that reps their gear the most that night! All you have to do is wear your gear, donate to the Virtue Events CashApp with a note of what HBCU you’re supporting, and we’ll do the rest. If you want to see your school win, make sure to bring your crew and rep your HBCU!
5-10pm on The Patio
