Elf The Musical: Autism-Friendly Performance
December 8 @ 10:00 am - 12:30 pm
DPAC is proud to announce its second autism-friendly performance since 2016 with Elf: The Broadway Musical which will take place on Saturday, December 8 at 10 a.m.
This performance is for individuals on the autism spectrum, as well as people with other developmental or cognitive disabilities who may benefit, not for the general public.
What makes it autism-friendly?
To create an autism-friendly performance, the show is being performed in a welcoming, supportive environment for individuals on the autism spectrum, with sensory and communication disorders, or learning disabilities. Slight adjustments to lighting and sound will be made for the performance. In the theatre lobby there will be a break area staffed by specialists in the field, if anyone needs to leave their seats during the show. A downloadable Social Narrative (in Word format) with pictures of the theatre and the production will be available on this page, designed to personalize the experience for individuals wishing to prepare for the show. Additional resources for this performance, such as a Character Guide, Guide to Attending the Show will also be available.
For more information or if you have questions regarding this autism-friendly performance, please e-mail customerservice@DPACnc.com.

ELF is the hilarious tale of Buddy, a young orphan child who mistakenly crawls into Santa’s bag of gifts and is transported back to the North Pole. Unaware that he is actually human, Buddy’s enormous size and poor toy-making abilities cause him to face the truth. With Santa’s permission, Buddy embarks on a journey to New York City to find his birth father, discover his true identity, and help New York remember the true meaning of Christmas. This modern day Christmas classic is sure to make everyone embrace their inner ELF.
