Durham Ballet Theatre Winter Showcase Auditions

Durham Ballet Theatre is excited to present OPEN auditions for dancers skilled in aerial & floor dance performing as soloists or groups. Our Winter Showcase exhibits dancers from all genres, allowing you to share your talent with a small audience. This is a great opportunity to open yourself up and expand your repertoire.

Auditions will be held Sunday, September 17, 2023 and performances are December 1-3, 2023. Performers need to be available to perform during two of the three shows.

Please prepare a 1-2 minute choreographed routine to your own provided music that executes your skill level on your preferred apparatus. These may be solo or group pieces. You must provide your own music.

Opportunities for joining group pieces will be available.

Audition fee: $10
Participation fee: $50 upon acceptance of your performance for the showcase. Covers back-end expenses and use of studio space during scheduled times with a proctor present to observe and assist if necessary.

Masks are optional for auditions, but recommended if you’re symptomatic or just not sure. If you are currently sick (with Covid or even just the common cold), please submit a video audition. Thank you!

4:00-4:30 p.m. Ballet, Contemporary and Floor Dance Auditions

*Continuing Beginning Aerial: Dancers should have 8 months or more of silks, trapeze or lyra training (generally, ages 12+)
**Intermediate & Advanced Aerial: Dancers must be at intermediate & advanced level of silks, trapeze or lyra

If you are unable to attend in-person auditions, please submit a video audition by October 1, 2023 to dbt@durhamballettheatre.org. You will still need to register here.

Friday, December 1, 2023 evening: Show 1 (free community performance for our Special Audiences)
Saturday, December 2, 2023 evening: Show 2
Sunday, December 3, 2023 afternoon: Show 3

Performers must be available to perform in at least two of the three shows.
