Durham Arts Council Third Friday

February 21 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Opening reception for “The right angle, the meander and the star” an exhibit by visiting artist Shirel Horovitz. On exhibit in the Durham Arts Council Semans Gallery, Feb. 21-March 16, 2020. Free and open to the public.

During her three-week residency at Durham JCC, following an extensive six month of research, Israeli artist Shirel Horovitz embarks on an exploration of the Jewish community of Durham and Chapel hill.

“Now that I’ve been here a week I mainly want to say how humbled I am and how clearly I see the difference between the research and reality and how I need to let go of any previous assumptions and truly listen in hope to be able to tell a fraction of the story that this community is so generously sharing with me.”
