“Black Economic Power” with Dr. Nishani Frazier
February 1 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm
Free
Kicking off programming for “The Life and Legacy of Floyd B. McKissick Sr.”, as well as Black History Month, the Museum of Durham History will host a historical lecture, presented by Dr. Nishani Frazier, titled “Black Economic Power”. It will take place from 6-7:30pm at the Hayti Heritage Center.
This event will examine the intellectual foundations of black economic development in the Congress of Racial Equality, and explain how it gave rise to the work of Floyd McKissick and Soul City. Particular attention will be given to understanding the revolutionary elements of urban planning and cooperative economics, which inspired Soul City’s vision and design. Attending this event is also a great way to view the satellite display of The Life and Legacy of Floyd B. McKissick Sr. that is present at the Hayti Heritage Center.
