From Jackie to Pumpsie–1947-1959, “Barrier Breakers” is a traveling exhibit developed by the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum (NLBM) in Kansas City, Missouri. It tells the important, but often overlooked story of the courageous players who integrated their respective Major League Baseball (MLB) teams from Jackie Robinson joining the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1947 through Elijah “Pumpsie” Green completing the integration cycle, 12 years later, with the Boston Red Sox.
Resilient Ventures, LLC is proud to present this amazing exhibition. As we pay tribute to these courageous trailblazers, we extend our deepest gratitude to the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum, from whom this exhibit originates and to our sponsors, whose support has made their stories of resilience and excellence directly accessible to us in our beloved Black Wall St. legacy city of Durham, NC. Together, we celebrate the triumph of equality and salute the enduring legacy of these pioneering athletes.
The exhibit will be at the Crowe Building, 406 Blackwell Street at American Tobacco Campus starting September 22nd until October 29th and open to the public.
