Arcana November Songwriters’ Meet-Up with Juliana Finch
November 11 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
We had such a great time last month digging into some songwriting fundamentals and talking about the what and how of a song! Join us for this month’s! DM or join Arcana’s Patreon for link!
If you weren’t able to attend previous meetings, but want to jump in, please do! You are not behind! This is a casual meeting, and you can bring anything you’re working on, or just attend for inspiration and insight!
Prompt for November (if you want!):
Taking Lori McKenna’s song, “Lorraine” as a model, work on a song that incorporates very specific details or evokes very specific memories.
If you’ve got something else you’re working on that’s unfinished, please feel free to bring it to the group. Before we play for each other we’ll be talking about how to give feedback in this setting so that everyone feels good about sharing first drafts and kinda-sorta-done work. This is not a performance setting so nobody is expected to be polished or perfect! This is about process and I encourage you to show up messy.
Writing Check-In Time
I’ll be hosting weekly writing accountability check-ins for folks who think they’d benefit from having someone else “co-working” with them during a writing session. This is open to all Arcana Patreon supporters!
Starting to write is often the hardest part of writing, and having accountability buddies is a great way to hold space for each other and encourage each other to (actually) work on that thing we said we’d work on.
How it works:
Pop into this Zoom meeting on Tuesdays at 11am Eastern. https://us02web.zoom.us/j/85391622627…
We’ll do a quick check-in and tell each other what we’re working on (I’m doing it too!) and then go off camera to spend 30 minutes on that thing. At the end of 30 minutes, we check in again and then continue with our day. You don’t have to share anything you wrote and you don’t have to stop writing if you find yourself on a roll! Super easy, and a great way to knock out some writing time you’ve been meaning to get in.
Hope to see you at next month’s meeting! Please feel free to send any questions to [email protected]
