Downtown Durham, Inc.

Downtown Durham, Inc. (DDI) is a 501(c) 6 organization, formed in 1993 to serve as a catalyst for downtown revitalization. Since then Downtown Durham, Inc., has sought to build a foundation for the future of downtown. Our mission is very specific—create an environment for private development in Downtown Durham by focusing our efforts in five main project areas:

  • Economic Development
  • Parking
  • Appearance
  • Safety
  • Promotion

General Advisory Committee

DDI’s General Advisory Committee is made up of downtown stakeholders that advise DDI on bigger picture issues such as downtown events, marketing, safety, economic development and more.

Clean and Safe Advisory Committee

DDI manages the Downtown Improvement District, which brings enhanced services in the areas of economic development, marketing/promotion, appearance, safety, and special events. We manage a 7 person Clean and Safe Ambassador Team, which is e on the ground 6 days a week performing clean, safe, and hospitality services.
The purpose of the Downtown Clean and Safe Advisory Council is to provide feedback and render advice with respect to the operation of Downtown Improvement District’s Clean and Safe Ambassador services. The Council meets quarterly, with each meeting expected to last 1-2 hours. Members of the Clean and Safe Advisory Council will serve two year terms.
